Wakonda Family Campground
Family Recreation
in the Beautiful Adirondacks
Wakonda was created to provide a wholesome place for your family. At Wakonda, the word wholesome describes not only the fresh, unspoiled Adirondack air and sparkling water of our lakes... it also describes an atmosphere which allows families to relax, play and explore together, renewing themselves as individuals and as family units.
Facilities are geared to help you fully enjoy your outdoor recreational experience. Staff is oriented to provide prompt, courteous attention to your needs.
Campsites are widely spaced with enough trees and undergrowth between them to give you the woodsy privacy you expect when camping. All sites are equipped with a table, fireplace and water; most with electrical hook-ups and some with sewer hook-ups. Holding tank pump-out service is available.
Welcome to quiet pleasures
Explore at Nature's pace in our Adirondack bog. Be still and hear the thrum of the bullfrogs; watch the drifting flight of a butterfly. Blueberry Pond is an ideal place for reflection and relaxation.
The fishing is good in Lake Wakonda and the Schroon River. There are bass, pike, perch, sunfish and bullheads waiting to give you a good workout.
Camping season is from Memorial Day weekend to the last week in
September.
Wakonda's 140 sites on 80 plus acres are graced with immense
pines, hemlocks and maples, towering over the recreational buildings and most of
the campsites.
Lake Wakonda provides swimming, fishing, canoeing, sailing and
nature study. For boating enthusiasts our half mile frontage on the
Schroon River provides direct access to Schroon Lake only a mile away.
